Fort Belknap Planning & Development Corporation dba Island Mountain Development Group (IMDG) was created in 2006 as a Tribally-chartered corporation wholly owned by the Fort Belknap Indian Community. Island Mountain Development Group is seeking applicants to fulfill the term of one Gros Ventre member of the Board:
• The Gros Ventre Board Position Term ends on November 26, 2026.
We request that all Gros Ventre members interested in serving as Board members on the IMDG Board apply. Regarding policy, the Board is split evenly between three Assiniboine and three Gros Ventre members. Qualifications:
• Candidate must be committed to the position’s duties as outlined in the IMDG Charter, Bylaws, and IMDG Policies.
• Must possess general business acumen and interest in further developing IMDG-managed businesses, including consumer financial services, custom home-building and construction, government contracting, IT, manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare facilities support.
• Candidate must submit a completed Board of Directions Statement of Interest Form by the stated deadline.
• Candidate must be an enrolled member of the Fort Belknap Indian Community.
• Candidate must pass a background check confirming eligibility to serve.
Board Member Duties: • Represent the best interests of the sole shareholder, the Fort Belknap Indian Community, during Board decision-making.
• Assist IMDG by serving as a communication link with Community members, the shareholder, the Fort Belknap Indian Community Council, and federal and state agencies officials and third parties, such as banks, contractors, and development organizations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of tribal economic development strategies, including tribal sovereignty matters relating to business development strategies.
• Demonstrate personal and professional integrity, financial responsibility, and honesty, and adhere to high ethical standards.
• Have the ability and willingness to provide detailed personal financial and background information to the Small Business Administration (for 8a certification) and other federal agencies necessary to obtain various business certifications and top secret security clearances.
Candidates cannot have any felony or misdemeanor criminal record for such security clearances.
• Can travel and attend all lMDG Board meetings, both quorum and non-quorum, and meetings requiring board representation.
• Accept fiduciary responsibility for the organization and agree to abide by the Board of Directors Code of Conduct.
• Sign the IMDG Board of Directors Conflict of Interest statement and agree to regularly declare any actual/potential conflicts.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Selection Process: Article IV of IMDG’s Bylaws states that following a review of all Statements of Interest received and cleared background checks, the IMDG Board of Directors shall nominate a list of qualified and eligible persons for the unexpired Board term. The Fort Belknap Indian Community Council shall select one person from among those nominated to fill the position.
